16. April: Shrek (OV)

Once upon a time in a dark swamp: There was living an ugly green monster: Shrek, the oger. He lived there very lonely and when someone risked to enter his forest, the oger frightened the people and then had his peace again. But some day everything changes: At the edge of the forest, a donkey crosses the way of Shrek - a speaking donkey who is on the run from the evil Lord Farquaad's soldiers who want to capture all fabulous creatures. Besides the Lord wants to marry the beautiful princess Fiona in order to become king and therefore he closes a deal with Shrek: If the oger succeeds in bringing Fiona to him, he will remove all fabulous creatures from the swamp that there will be silence again. As a matter of fact, Shrek and the donkey succeed in delivering the beautiful princess in an adventurous act of rescue from her remote castle where she is guarded by a fire dragon. But at the second sight Fiona certainly is not pleased with her deliverer: she really did not has imagined her intended prince of dreams as an ugly oger. But on their way back to Lord Farquaad, Shrek and Fiona realise that they have a lot in common and that they get along well with each other in spite of their entirely different appearance - and that real heroes and dark secrets can be hidden behind an ugly oger and a beautiful princess. And not all is like it seems to be at the first sight and the biggest test for Shrek and his new companions still lies ahead.
