They stole his future. Now he's taking it back.
For a split second, caseworker Harry Mitchell is distracted – and this has far-reaching consequences. According to The Plan, David should never have met Elise on that day. But Harry, who was supposed to make sure that David misses his bus, didn't pay attention, and there it happened. A look into his notebook shows Harry that the events are already starting to affect The Plan. This will be a hassle to fix and the boss will not be pleased.
Even worse, David sees something he was not supposed to see and learns of the existence of the Adjustment Bureau, whose job it is to make tiny changes to people's lives in order to guide history in just the right direction. Considering the big plans they have for David's political career, the Bureau refrains from deleting his memory, but he is told not to speak of them to anyone and not to meet Elise ever again.
Since he knows nothing about her except her first name, he has a hard time finding her again, anyway. But he cannot get her out of his head. Disregarding all warnings, he keeps looking for her, ignorant of the consequences this might have not only on their lives, but on the fate of the whole world.
This mind-meld of sci-fi thriller, morality play and passionate romance is worth seeing, mostly for the palpable chemistry between the lead actors. (USA Today)
